Children of Teamster members have until June 15, 2016, to enter the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest, which gives higher-education students the opportunity to win one of 200 awards worth $1,000.
This year, applicants are asked to share their thoughts on the following topic:
“What has living in a Teamster household meant to me and my siblings?”
To qualify, applicants must be the son, daughter or financial dependent of an eligible Teamster member; be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college, university or community college program, or a technical or vocational program; and be 23 years old or younger by June 15, 2016.
Essays should be 500 words or less and type written. Those applying also must fill out an application.

Since 2010, Teamsters Local 727 has had 16 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship winners, including four essay contest winners.
