Two paratransit drivers recently returned to work after Teamsters Local 727 fought against their wrongful terminations.
The union filed grievances on behalf of MV Transportation Chicago driver Kelly Renda and First Transit Chicago driver Pierre Walker-Thomas. Through the grievance procedure, the union was able to prove that both companies had unjustly fired the drivers.
“The grievance procedure is a cornerstone of a Teamster contract and helps to ensure management cannot mistreat our members,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727.
Renda was reinstated with full back pay, including a missed holiday, and Walker-Thomas also returned to work. Both retained full seniority rights.
