Local 727 Representatives Push for Swift OSHA Compliance
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) again has ordered Rollex Corporation to correct safety violations and pay a corresponding penalty of $13,500. Teamsters Local 727 representatives are insisting that the changes be made immediately.
Local 727 represents about 100 workers at the aluminum soffit and steel siding manufacturer located in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
“Member safety is of the utmost importance,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “The union will see this through to ensure Rollex complies with all OSHA requirements.”
Last year, OSHA also cited Rollex for numerous violations and ordered the company to employ a third-party safety and compliance company and to hold frequent safety meetings with Local 727 members. Rollex also paid $78,000 in OSHA financial penalties in 2015.
Union representatives were present during the compliance hearing last month at the OSHA regional office in Des Plaines.
“The OSHA officer pointed out that it is unusual for union representatives to attend these OSHA hearings — but it is not unusual for this local union,” Coli said. “We are committed to serving our members and representing their best interests at every turn.”
Teamsters Local 727 represents nearly 10,000 hardworking men and women throughout the Chicago area.
